Viewers are in shock after veteran ITV news anchor Alastair Stewart announced he would be taking a break from presenting his current affairs show on GB News. The broadcaster explained he was suffering from an injury so would not be on screens for some time. The news comes after GB News channel condemned Guto Harri for taking the knee on Tuesday.
With a mix of some of the best-known journalists in the UK, as well as promising a different kind of news programme and “anti-woke”, GB News has consistently been on viewers’ radar.
However, presenter Stewart has shocked audiences with his announcement he would not be hosting his show Alastair Stewart and Friends for a while.
He told his 40,900 Twitter followers: “#BreakingNews: I won’t be hosting #AlastairStewartAndFriends on @GBNEWS this weekend due to……. a broken hip!
“I fear it’ll be a while but I’ll be back!!!”
Stewart continued: “Thanks for kindness & support to all at @GBNEWS, the brilliant Anita @AnitaLandLtd & my extraordinary family…”
Viewers were quick to respond to his post, with many wishing him a speedy recovery, with someone writing: “Ok that’s a reasonable excuse for a day off [thumbs up emoji].”
Another added: “Oh dear. Career over. Health over. Whatever next ?!?!”
When asked what happened, Stewart explained: “I was leading in one of the horses & she bolted, knocking me over – rather forcefully!”
