A HOLOGRAM of a huge flaming lion prowled across the top of a stadium before it jumped onto the pitch and roared at fans.
Argentine side Estuadiantes de La Plata put on the eye-watering display to mark their return to the ground for the first time since 2005.
Thousands of fans flooded the new Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium to celebrate the completion of the construction work.
The evening included a performance by Argentinian rock band Los Autenticos Decadentes, a friendly match between former players and club legends, fireworks and a computer-generated lion.
Incredible footage shows the moment the hologram appeared at the top of the stand before an imposing roar echoed around the 30,018-capacity ground.
The lion then leaped onto the pitch – which caused patches of turf to erupt into flames.
It stood on its hind legs in an incredible show of strength before it completed a lap of honour in front of the excited fans.
For the finale, the huge beast roared at fans before it disappeared into the night after being engulfed in flames.
Former Manchester United star Juan Sebastian Veron, who is the club's president, was blown away by the pre-match show.
He saud: "It is very emotional to see you all here after so much fight.
"It is a dream come true, but this is not the destination, this is a starting point for more joys to come."
