Sherrock posts ecstatic selfie after making Grand Slam history with 170 checkout

Fallon Sherrock has added to her long list of amazing career moments after an incredible 170 checkout at the Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts.

On Tuesday night Sherrock, who in 2019 became the first female darts player to win matches at the PDC World Championships, had to beat German player Gabriel Clemens 5-3 to reach the tournament's knockout phase.

That scenario looked unlikely when she trailed 3-1, but it was then 'The Queen of the Palace' produced a stirring fightback, taking out 141 en route to leading 4-3.

And then came her magical moment when left with 170, she duly hit two treble 20's before nailing the bullseye to leave Clemens shellshocked and send a delirious crowd into raptures.

Her delight was obvious as the beaming star took to Twitter to post a selfie afterwards, writing "OMG. Yeeeesssss…I can't believe this."

And her latest achievement proved popular with her 105,000 plus followers, with @afclucyyy replying: "Incredible! Simply incredible! Jumped out of my seat and danced around the living room when you won! What a performance! Can’t wait for the next!"

@clint1472 added: "Wow wow wow. What a finish. I'm so happy you're through. I'm hoping that you get to play at the palace on the 19th as I'm at the darts that night. The place will be rocking."

It means further history-making for Sherrock, 27, who is now the only women to progress from the group stages at the tournament in Wolverhampton. It follows her hitting 101.55, the highest-ever average by a woman on TV, in her 5-0 whitewash of Mike de Dekker at the weekend.

She will now face Austrian player Mensur Suljovic – whom she conquered on an historic night in the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace two years ago.

Speaking to reporters after her win, she was asked about her pre-tournament promise to "break another glass ceiling" at the Aldersley Leisure Village.

"I want to break as many as I can, but to do it with a 170 checkout… wow!

"After he got the three legs, I thought, 'Just win – that's all, just win.' But I don't know how I did it.

"I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. It's going to take a while to come down off cloud nine after this, but I've got to put it to the back of my mind and see what happens against Mensur."
