Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Messi free transfer wanted, Griezmann bid this summer, Martial wanted by Inter Milan

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to make a bid for Antoine Griezmann this summer with Barcelona reportedly desperate to sell players.

Even the imminent departure of Lionel Messi is unlikely to balance the books for Ronald Koeman's men, leaving Griezmann up for the chop.

The Red Devils also have an interest in Messi himself and are looking to gazump PSG at the last minute.

And what happens with that deal also has implications for Paul Pogba, who is unlikely to move to PSG if a transfer for Lionel Messi goes through.

Elsewhere Inter want a loan move for Anthony Martial to replace Romelu Lukaku – a deal Man Utd are reportedly prepared to accept if it includes a purchase clause.

    OLE REACTION

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his reaction to the team's 4-0 win against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Speaking to the club's official website, the manager said: "When you make changes, the games in pre-season always go this way, or most of the time go this way [intense first half, quieter second half].

"It was about getting the minutes in, try to get the intensity, the work they’ve put in so far in pre-season has been good and we got rewarded with a few nice goals today. That was a positive.

"We did okay fitness wise but Leeds is a different kettle of fish with the way they play.

"Every team in the league poses a different challenge so today was about intensity and going home tonight with four goals. That gives us confidence."

    MARTIAL LATEST

Anthony Martial is the man Inter Milan want to replace Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.

And if Manchester United can recoup close to the £50million they forked out six years ago, the French striker will be off to the San Siro.

Lukaku is close to sealing a move back to his first Premier League club, two seasons after leaving Old Trafford for Italy.

Inter hope to get Martial on loan – and although United prefer a permanent deal, they would agree as long as it included a commitment to buy.

The two clubs have a good relationship, having previously done business for Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez.

Martial, who earns around £200,000 a week, has three years left on his Old Trafford contract – plus a 12-month option – and is still only 25.

    RED RAID

Manchester United are interested in making a shock free transfer swoop for Lionel Messi, according to reports.

The Barcelona great, 34, made an emotional exit from the Nou Camp on Sunday.

Despite agreeing a new contract at his boyhood club, LaLiga rules prevented the terms being signed.

It means the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is now a free agent and open to offers.

And according to Duncan Castles, United may put a contract on the table for Messi and his family to consider.

It is thought the Red Devils are crunching the numbers to work out if they can afford a deal.

    HENDERSON UPDATE

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on Dean Henderson's fitness.

The goalkeeper contracted Covid-19 earlier this summer and is still feeling the effects of the virus.

Solskjaer told the club's official website: "Dean, he was positive early on and then he's negative in his testing but he's not felt as energised or sharp as he has done.

"So he’s still fatigued and feeling the after effects.

"So, you never know, you've seen so many effects of this virus, so he's got a few days still to rest and then we’ll check up on him."

    HAA MUCH?

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed the club are interested in signing Erling Haaland.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of Europe's brightest talents and his performances have drawn interest from Man Utd and Chelsea.

Salihamidzic said: "This [Haaland] is a top player that the whole world probably wants. Otherwise we would be full amateurs."

    JAMES ON PRE-SEASON

Daniel James has enjoyed Manchester United's pre-season in the UK.

The Red Devils usually go abroad ahead of the new Premier League campaign and play in front of their adoring global fanbase.

But the Covid-19 pandemic has restricted United's travels this year.

Speaking to the club's official website, James said: "I think it was important [to have a proper pre-season].

"This year, we haven't gone abroad anywhere, we've been down to London and up to Scotland.

"It's been great, everyone comes in at different times, but everyone knows their jobs and responsibilities.

"We'll rest now and prepare well for the game next week."

    JAMES PRAISES FANS

Manchester United winger Daniel James has praised the return of supporters after the team's 4-0 win against Everton on Saturday.

Speaking to the club's official website after the Old Trafford fixture, the Welsh winger said: "It's absolutely brilliant coming out [to this crowd].

"We're edging closer to the start of the season now and I'm sure next week will be ten times louder.

“It kind of became normal without fans and it was a bit weird but it's nice.

"We kind of got a little taste of fans again at the Euros and now to have fans here cheering us on is brilliant.

“When we're under it a bit, they're still cheering for us and for me, it just drives me forward."

    NEV-ER IN DOUBT

Phil Neville went from anger to ecstasy in the blink of an eye.

The Inter Miami boss was spitting feathers at the officials in stoppage time after the referee inadvertently got in Gonzalo Higuain’s way as the ex-Real Madrid and Chelsea ace desperately searched for a winner.

But just moments later, it was the Argentine’s older brother Federico who delivered a brilliant centre for former Aston Villa midfielder Indiana Vassilev to head home his first Miami goal in stoppage time after impressing off the bench.

    MANN UNITED

Manchester United are interested in Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann and will make a move for the striker soon, according to reports.

Barcelona announced Lionel Messi's departure from the club last week but still need to sell players to balance the books.

The Catalan club must reduce their wage bill and as one of the highest earners they are prepared to let Griezmann leave.

The Frenchman is being chased by United, who, according to Todofichajes, plan to make a low offer given the knowledge of Barca's need to sell.

Griezmann, 30, is reportedly paid a gross salary of £32million a year, and getting that off the wage bill would greatly benefit Barcelona.

The forward is believed to be keen on a departure and has asked his agent to try and force an exit from the Nou Camp.

And after fans booed Griezmann's arrival at the training ground following Messi's departure he may be even more determined to make a move elsewhere.

    MORNING, UNITED FANS

Inter Milan are eyeing Anthony Martial to replace Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku.

But United reportedly want close to the £50million they paid Monaco for the France striker six years ago.

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi's possible move to PSG could hand Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a major transfer boost.

Rennes' 18-year-old Eduardo Camavinga is thought to be a long-term United target.

And although the three-cap France midfielder, 18, would prefer to join PSG the French giants are making space for a mega-pay Messi move.

Bayern Munich's Germany ace Leon Goretzka is also being linked to United again.

But that's considered a back-up plan in case Paul Pogba leaves.

Centre-back Axel Tuanzebe has signed a new United deal until 2023 – but headed straight off for his THIRD Aston Villa loan spell.

Lastly, England's Euro 2020 ace Declan Rice is said to be content to stay at West Ham another season – disappointing his main suitors United and Chelsea.

    LOKONGA ‘BETTER THAN POGBA’

Arsenal fans have heaped praise on new signing Albert Lokonga following his impressive showing against rivals Tottenham.

The 21-year-old was making only his second start for the Gunners following his £17million arrival from Anderlecht last month.

Lokonga made his debut on Wednesday during a friendly match with Watford at London Colney.

But his first real test came in the clash with Spurs and although Arsenal fell to a 1-0 defeat, the midfielder passed his test with flying colours.

And fans took to social media to hail Lokonga, with some Gooners even comparing him to Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

One tweeted: “Lokonga seems to be absolute quality, love how he plays small passes in the box but hard to read so they actually work out extremely well.”

Another said: “Lokonga could be the difference between us having a decent season or a disastrous one.”

A third added: “Don’t want to sound dramatic. But Lokonga is levels above Pogba.”

Lokonga is one of three players Arsenal have signed so far this summer alongside defenders Ben White and Nuno Tavares.

AXEL CELEBRATEDS NEW UTD DEAL WITH… LOAN EXIT

Manchester United insist Axel Tuanzebe will return from his THIRD Aston Villa loan for 2022-23 with the chanced of first-team football.

The former England Under-21 centre-back, 23, has signed a new Old Trafford contract until June 2023.

A club statement said: 'Axel will return to the United set-up at the end of the 2021/22 season, at which point he'll then hope to stake a claim for a first-team starting spot at Old Trafford."

JAMES CAN'T WAIT FOR LEEDS CLASH

Manchester United star Daniel James has stated that the Red Devils are looking forward to their Premier League opener against Leeds after thrashing Everton.

James told MUTV: “I think it was important [to have a proper pre-season].

“This year, we haven’t gone abroad anywhere, we’ve been down to London and up to Scotland. It’s been great, everyone comes in at different times, but everyone knows their jobs and responsibilities.

“We’ll rest now and prepare well for the game next week. I can’t wait. I think everyone is exactly the same. What a game to have first, Leeds United.

“I think us as well as them last season for the fans were gutted [that fans couldn’t attend]. It will be a great atmosphere and I’m sure it’s one both teams are really looking forward to”

UTD WANT NEARLY £50M FOR MARTIAL

Anthony Martial is the man Inter Milan want to replace Chelsea-bound Romelu Lukaku.

And if Manchester United can recoup close to the £50million they forked out six years ago, the French striker will be off to the San Siro.

Lukaku is on the point of sealing a move back to his first Premier League two seasons after leaving Old Trafford for Italy.

The Belgian will get his wish of a return to Stamford Bridge once Chelsea get close to Inter’s near £100m asking price.

And when they do, they will immediately ramp up their efforts to land Martial, who they first tried to sign two years ago.

Ideally Inter hope to get him on a season-long loan – and although United prefer a permanent deal, they would agree as long as it included a commitment to buy in 12 months.

The two clubs have a good relationship, having previously done business for Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez.

Martial, who earns around £200,000 a week, has three years left on his Old Trafford contract – plus a 12-month option – and is still only 25.

KANE SET FOR SPURS TALKS MONDAY

Nuno Espirito Santo will hold crunch talks with want-away Harry Kane on Monday.

The England captain finally returned to Spurs on Saturday after taking an extended holiday following last month’s European Championships.

And new boss Nuno will finally get the chance to establish just how determined Kane is to quit the club and force a move to Champions Manchester City.

He said: “It’s true that Harry is back with us and we expect to integrate him with the squad as soon as he is allowed.

“I will speak with him as soon as possible because we have a training session on Monday and hopefully I will talk to Harry while maintaining social distancing.

“He has to quarantine but we have to be very strict and not take any chances because the one thing that everyone has learned is that the pandemic is still here so we have to be really careful.

“But Harry has already had his first day with the sports scientists and he is training.”

CAMAVINGA TO PSG JUST GOT MESSI

Manchester United have received a transfer boost in their pursuit of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but his preferred location is thought to be Paris Saint-Germain.

However, joining the French club could be made very difficult if Lionel Messi arrives in Paris, as he is expected to in the coming days.

Asked about potentially signing for PSG, Messi said: "It is a possibility, but as of today there is nothing agreed with anyone.

"When the statement came out, I had many calls, various clubs were interested. But I have nothing closed yet. But we are talking.”

If a PSG-Messi agreement can be reached, Mauricio Pochettino is expected to have to ship up to TEN players out in order to make ends meet.

As a result, bringing in even more new faces is not likely to be on the Parisian club's agenda.

This is bad news for Camavinga but could be a major coup for Man Utd as they chase the precocious playmaker.

    MARTIAL TO REPLACE LUKAKU?

Inter Milan want to sign Manchester United star Anthony Martial as Romelu Lukaku’s replacement.

Inter are likely to lose Lukaku this summer after the star striker’s former club Chelsea reportedly met the Italian champions’ release clause.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Nerazzurri are getting ready for life after the Belgium international and have identified Martial as his ideal successor.

The Serie A giants want to take the talented forward initially on loan for the season.

United are likely to agree if Inter accept an obligation to buy the France international next year.

That is because the Red Devils are determined to recoup most of the £50million they paid Monaco to sign the 25-year-old six years ago.

    DAN AND READY

Manchester United star Daniel James has stated that the Red Devils are looking forward to their Premier League opener against Leeds after thrashing Everton.

James told MUTV: "I think it was important [to have a proper pre-season].

    MESSI BOOST?

Manchester United are hoping they will get an advantage in their bid to sign Rennes star Euardo Camavinga.

That is because Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attentions from Camavinga to Lionel Messi.

Messi has officially left Barcelona and has held talks with PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.

According to the Daily Mail, the midfielder's agent Jonathan Barnett is keen to get his client to United

    NO TITLE SOUN

Graeme Souness doesn't believe Manchester United have what it takes to challenge for the Premier League title as they still need a striker.

Souness wrote in The Sunday Times: “If Manchester United have finished their transfer business with the signings of Jadon Sancho for £73million from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane for an initial £34m from Real Madrid, then that is not enough investment for them to win the trophies this season that a club of their magnitude should be aiming for: the Premier League and Champions League.

“The signing required to catapult them into title-winning contention with Manchester City and Chelsea is a striker who guarantees 30 goals a season.

“There are few of them around and you will pay a premium if you are a Premier League club and another premium on top of that if you are one of the big boys”

    RICE TOUCH

West Ham star Declan Rice won't leave the Hammers this summer, despite recent links with Manchester United.

That's according to the Daily Mail, who claim Rice doesn't think another year at the London Stadium will be detrimental to his career ambitions.

But the midfielder could look to leave east London next year.

The Red Devils could be firmly in the mix for the 22-year-old's signature next summer

    LINGARD UPDATE

    HERE WE GO

Manchester United are ready to add in midfield in case Paul Pogba leaves in the summer transfer window.

According to reports in Germany, Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka is among their top targets.

There had been interest in Goretzka earlier in the summer, but that seemed to have cooled recently.

That's because Bayern are said to have opened talks on a new contract for the Germany international, who is in the final year of his deal
