ARNE SLOT has swept to the front in the battle to become Leeds' next permanent manager.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've installed the highly-rated Dutch coach at odds-on 2-5 for the vacant position at Elland Road.

Leeds are busy searching for their third manager in less than 12 months having relieved Jesse Marsch of his duties on Monday.

Marsch left the Yorkshire club anchored in 17th position and above the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Spanish coach Carlos Corberan was the initial frontrunner at 6-5 but he's since signed a new long-term contract at West Brom.

Corberan held talks with Leeds chiefs but talks broke down over the length of a potential deal and he's now drifted to 9-1 to make a sensational U-turn.

With Corberan committed to the Championship club for the next four-and-a-half-years, attentions have turned elsewhere.

And Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is the leading candidate at 2-5.

Slot's stock has risen considerably in recent years after winning the 2021–22 Eredivisie Manager of the Year, beating Erik ten Hag to the award.

Feyenoord currently sit top of the Eredivisie standings, losing just one of their 20 league games so far.

He's also steered them to the knockout stages of the Europa League having reached the Europa Conference League final last season.

Club hero Marcelo Bielsa WAS the frontrunner at 4-1 to return after being axed in February 2022 but he's drifted to 20-1 over the past 48 hours.

Rayo Vallecano’s in-demand boss Andoni Iraola is a close second in the betting market thanks to his high-intensity approach.

The Spanish manager has Vallecano in fifth position in La Liga, and reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey last season.

Iraola has the added bonus of having been coached by Leeds’ former coach Bielsa as a player at Athletic Bilbao.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is the new 2/5 odds-on favourite to be the next Leeds manager.

"Carlos Corberan had been the previous frontrunner to replace Jesse Marsch, but the former Leeds assistant manager signed a new contract with West Brom on Tuesday evening.

"Andoni Iraola is the 7/4 second-favourite for the Elland Road job, while Ralph Hasenhuttl is 12/1 with Steven Gerrard and Nuno Espirito Santo both 16/1."
