Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Mykhaylo Mudryk £62m second bid LATEST, Declan Rice prefers London move – updates | The Sun

ARSENAL have now made a SECOND bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk worth up to £62million.

But they are still haggling with the Ukrainian Champions over the amount of money which they will have to pay up front.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow as Franck Kessie is refusing to leave the Camp Nou just months after his move to Barcelona.

Furthermore, reports state that Arsenal 'could' make a move for Declan Rice, who prefers a move to London in the summer.

The West Ham captain has been heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea but the Blues are currently outside of the Champions League spots, which may factor into any decision.

    Gunners Felix advantage

Arsenal have been handed an advantage to sign Joao Felix in January due to him being in contact with a member of the Gunners squad.

Felix, 23, is set to move on loan during the window, with a number of clubs interested in his services for the remainder of the season.

The Athletic report that should the choice between the three clubs come down to a personal decision on Felix's part, Arsenal hold an ace in the form of Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian, who played alongside Felix in the 2019/20 season, remains in contact with him.

He therefore represents a unique advantage for Mikel Arteta's side if they need to convince the Portugal ace to join them.

Both sides have made great strides this year and are challenging at the top of the Premier League table.

Howe said: "We are only focused on this season and that game has zero relevance to this game.

"They are two totally new teams really.

"I'd say we've improved from that moment and Arsenal have gone on to another level. I'm sure both teams are looking at it as a new game."

Arsenal are reportedly in the hunt for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi.

The club have been tracking the 20-year-old’s progress over the last few months, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

However, a move may not happen in January, with a summer pursuit more likely.

The report has stated that he would only leave the French club should a “fantastic” offer arrive for the player.

The Ligue 1 side want to keep hold of the talented youngster and are believed to value him at £26.5million.

    Gunners need three more players

Former Premier League manager Tony Pulis believes Arsenal needs three more "top quality" players to hold off Manchester City.

The North London side are at the top of the Premier League, but some are concerned that the squad lacks the depth to go the full distance this season.

Pulis however, thinks that they are doing great and, with three more players, they could compete with the Citizens.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily: "You’ve got to give a lot of credit to the directors and the owners. He [Arteta] was under a lot of pressure for a lot of time, there were a lot of questions asked of him and he certainly answered them.

"The team he has put together, the way they play they have strength, pace, power and a lot of quality as well.

"I think they need three more players, three top-quality players within the group. Then you can look at them and say they would have the depth to compete with Manchester City.

    Arteta on title hopes

Mikel Arteta has given Arsenal fans the green light to start dreaming of a first League title since the 2004 Invincibles, writes SunSport's Mark Irwin.

Victory at home to third-placed Newcastle tonight will take the Gunners ten points clear at the top of the table for at least 48 hours.

It will also pile huge pressure on closest rivals Manchester City to win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening just to keep the title race alive.

Yet while Arteta is relishing the mounting excitement swirling around the Emirates, he is also wary of his players getting ahead of themselves with more than half of the season still to play.

Only four teams in Premier League history have ever managed more than Arsenal’s current total of 43 points from 16 games – and they all went on to win the title.

And a win against Newcastle this evening will effectively make it a two-horse race to the finishing line.

Arteta insists: “The way we are performing is obviously impressive and we are really happy with that. It’s not about stopping anyone’s expectations. It’s about remaining realistic with where we are.

“When I was in the dressing-room after the win at Brighton on Saturday I saw joy and happiness because the players were really excited after a big win. But they were also moderate in their celebrations because they understand that we still have a lot of things to improve as a team.

“So what we have to do is set our objectives in the short-term and focus on what it is that is making us win this many matches”

    Wenger makes title predictions

Legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reckons the Gunners can end 19 years of hurt and win the Premier League.

Wenger said: "Arsenal is getting stronger and stronger.

"It was a one-way street. I think they have all the necessary ingredients, both tactically and mentally.

"They can go all the way. Because, as you can see, they create so many chances. I don't really see any weaknesses"

Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe is back in training after a groin injury that has kept him out of action since September.

Smith Rowe's return comes after he had a minor setback at the beginning of the month.

"He took part in some training sessions and looked good. We're hoping to have him back soon"

    Mudryk in London?

Arsenal fans claim transfer target Mykhailo Mudryk is in London based on tiny details in his social media posts.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a £55million move for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mudryk, particularly following Gabriel Jesus' injury.

Now fans are becoming increasingly convinced the winger is due to arrive at the Emirates in the January window.

And that belief has manifested itself in them overanalysing the Ukraine international's Instagram stories.

Pictures of him in the gym led one fan to cite the make of the weights, his "hotel slippers" and a "UK fire alarm" as reasons why the young Ukrainian is in the UK

Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin said: "Negotiations are continuing. We receive offers, but they are not the ones we would like to see on our table.

"Now, literally in 5 minutes, I will have a phone conversation with Arsenal. We are open to negotiations, ready to exchange ideas and figures.

"If we will agree, then let it be so. If we will not, then let it be another time"

    Taking the Myk

Chelsea are contemplating hijacking Arsenal's move for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners tabled a £55million bid for Mudryk earlier this week but saw their opening offer rejected by Shakhtar.

A second bid is being mulled over by the North Londoners, who could face competition for the winger's services from the Blues.

That's according to The Guardian, who claim the West Londoners' manager Graham Potter has added the 21-year-old to his transfer list and is "interested" in signing him.

They will, however, have to stump up a whopping £85million to prise the Ukraine international from Shakhtar's clutches.

Arsenal are still ahead of their London rivals in the pursuit of Mudryk as talks are ongoing

    Gunner get Du

Arsenal are ready to battle Chelsea to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.

Vlahovic has scored a 13 goals in 25 appearances for Juve in Serie A since his arrival but their early Champions League exit has left them needing to raise funds.

And the striker is also frustrated with manager Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics.

That has led Corriere dello Sport claiming that the Serbia international's agent Darko Ristic is searching to secure his client a move away.

The 22-year-old is said to have “discontented” from Juventus and already has “strong interest” from a host of top teams.

Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to make a move “immediately” to try and sign him

    Bukayo Saka statement

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka saluted his club's seven-point lead at the top as “amazing”.

Saka admitted: “A seven-point lead sounds amazing. If you’d offered us this at the start of the season, we would have bitten your hand off.

“There was a big emphasis on getting a quick start, as we know how hard it is to come here, and that early goal set us up nicely.

“We have put ourselves in a great place but we are not focused on that now as we have to play Newcastle next and we know how well they have been playing”

    Out of Luc

Ex-Arsenal ace Lucas Perez returned to Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday after paying part of his own transfer fee.

Perez, 34, signed a one-and-a-half year deal with his beloved club after making the move from Cadiz.

According to AS, the striker was so desperate to make the switch that he paid a segment of his own transfer fee.

The Spaniard was understood to be eager to contribute to the fee because he "couldn't stand" seeing the club struggling in the third tier of Spanish football
