The Three Lions are in action against Iceland in their Nations League opener.

Harry Kane has the ball in the net, but it's been ruled out for offside.

Ryan Giggs wants Ethan Ampadu to be Mr Versatile in his Wales side, with the 19-year-old able to play in either midfield or defence.

But the former Exeter man’s last appearance impressed Giggswhen he lined up in a back three for Leipzig in February’s 1-0 Champions League away victory over Tottenham in the last-16 of Europe’s premier competition.

Giggs added: “I want all the players to be playing regularly, but that sometimes isn’t the case.

“It’s that balance over whether they’re at a top club and surrounded by top players and improving every day but ultimately you need minutes on the pitch. That’s a decision for Ethan. I’ve talked to him a lot about that.

“I think last year was maybe a little bit different as he had injuries. You could see from the game he played against Tottenham in the Champions League he was outstanding.

“Nothing fazes him, he’s a quality player, and he just needs to keep fit now and he will get minutes wherever he is.

“I wanted to try Ethan at centre-half because he does give you a different option with how comfortable he is on the ball. He has played more in midfield which he can do as well.”

Ethan Ampadu has been urged to stay at Chelsea and learn the art of defending from Thiago Silva.

Brazilian Thiago, 35, joined Frank Lampard’s side last month on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Teen star Ampadu is back at Stamford Bridge following a season-long loan in Germany with RB Leipzig.

And the Wales teen star, who starred in the 1-0 Nations League victory over Finland on Thursday in his first international game at centre-back, has been tipped by national boss Ryan Giggs to develop under Thiago’s wealth of knowledge and experience.

When asked if Ampadu can learn from Silva, Giggs, whose side face Bulgaria in Cardiff on Sunday, said: “Oh yeah. He’s been a quality centre-half for the last 15 years and you can only learn from someone like that.

“When you see a player like that in training and games, you can only learn from it. Ethan definitely will along with the other talented players at Chelsea.”

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly took control in the transfer deal to bring Kai Havertz to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old joined from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal on Friday in a move believed to be worth in the region of £70million.

And according to the Express, Abramovich took the wheel instead of boss Frank Lampard in conducting business as he pushed to sign Havertz.

They claim that the Russian billionaire and the Blues board were desperate to secure the signing of the German playmaker this summer.

With other potential suitors such as Real Madrid not having the funds to sign Havertz this window due to the coronavirus pandemic, Chelsea wanted to land the player now.

Here are how Kai Havertz's wages compare to his Chelsea team-mates.

The German attacking midfielder is NOT being badly paid at all.

AC Milan ‘are now close’ to agreeing a £2.6million loan move to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea with a £27m option to make the deal permanent.

The 26-year-old impressed in Italy two seasons ago during a year-long loan at the San Siro.

And after he made 23 appearances on loan at Monaco last term, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to shift the midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are in the final stages of sealing a deal to sign Bakayoko which gives them the option to buy him for £27m after an initial loan fee.

The Blues have already added Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz to their squad this year.

It leaves Lampard is need of a summer clear out and Bakayoko is among those unwanted.
