  • GOOD MORNING, ARSENAL FANS,

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double failed to prevent Aston Villa beating an Arsenal side including Mesut Ozil and new boy Willian 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Skipper Aubameyang showed why the Gunners are itching for their main marksman to sign the new three-year contract he has reportedly agreed as he hit two temporary levellers at the Emirates.

Both Premier League sides mixed first-teamers with youngsters as Arsenal again conceded three goals, following Tuesday's 4-3 win over QPR.

On the transfer front, the Gunners are still interested in signing Houssem Aouar, according to reports.

Arsenal want to bolster their midfield ranks and have been looking at Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey.

But the asking price appears to put the young Frenchman, 22, out of their reach.

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “They are absolutely interested. Monitoring the situation. Nothing advanced. He’s a top player.

“They have spoken with his agent. Again – they need to sell. Nothing less than €60million [£53.4m].

“He’d be one of the best signings this window.”

And lastly, Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has torn into Alexis Sanchez’s mentality after the Manchester United flop admitted he wanted to leave after one training session.

In an interview with talkSPORT, he said: “I can’t believe you want to leave a club after ONE training session. How does that work?!

“You’ve got to give yourself a chance; it’s new surroundings and a different way of training than at Arsenal.

“And it shouldn’t come down to wages, but he was on £560,000-a-week and he wants to leave straight away?! You’ve got to work hard.”

  • GOONERS PLEA

Arsenal fans are reportedly begging the club to seal deals for two transfer targets following the team's 3-2 loss to Aston Villa today.

Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey and Lyon's Houssem Aouar have been strongly linked to the club throughout the summer.

And Daily Star claim fans have posted mocked up images of two Arsenal shirts with the players' names on the back.

Aouar, 22, has been in fine form during his past three seasons in Ligue 1,

And Partey, 27, is a regular starter in Diego Simeone's Atletico team.

  • GUNNER PARTEY ON

Arsenal are still rumoured to be keen on bringing Thomas Partey to the Emirates.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with Atletico Madrid midfielder this summer.

But officials have so far not budged on meeting the Ghana international's £45 million release fee.

The club are also rumoured to be targeting Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.

However Football.London claim Aouar's price tag may have risen to £50million, following his impressive Champions League performances.

  • DEFEAT FOR GUNNERS

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang double failed to prevent Aston Villa beating an Arsenal side including Mesut Ozil and new boy Willian 3-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Skipper Aubameyang showed why the Gunners are itching for their main marksman to sign the new three-year contract he has reportedly agreed as he hit two temporary levellers at the Emirates.

Both Premier League sides mixed first-teamers with youngsters as Arsenal again conceded three goals, following Tuesday's 4-3 win over QPR.

But boss Mikel Arteta will just be glad to ease his players up to speed after admitting it was tough having last weekend's Community Shield against Liverpool midway through their pre-season build-up.

Dani Ceballos was also involved just a day after renewing his Arsenal loan from Real Madrid, while fellow midfielder Ozil returned after finishing last season as an outcast.

  • EDDI-N NORTH AGAIN?

Newcastle are monitoring the situation of Eddie Nketiah, with the possibility of loaning the forward.

Nketiah, 21, has not been an automatic first choice for Mikel Arteta but played diligently when Alexandre Lacazette was out of the side after lockdown.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Leeds, but that was cut short due to an injury crisis at the Emirates.

Newcastle are looking to sign Norwich’s Jamal Lewis, after having a £13.5million bid accepted for the left-back.

According to the Telegraph, the Toon would want Nketiah on loan.

Nketiah walked home with the match ball after scoring a hat-trick for England Under-21s against Kosovo.

  • MORE PARLOUR ON SANCHEZ

'The Romford Pele' added: “How can you say, as a player, when you turn up to a club you want to leave the next day?

“That’s not right. That mentality should not be in a footballer.

“You should say, ‘it’s Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve got to fight for my position and make sure I try to perform like I did at Arsenal’.

“It might be a different style of football, it might not suit him, but you’ve got to try and win the fans over, the players over – everybody over. And that is what he didn’t do.”

  • RAY'S SAN SLAM

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has tore into Alexis Sanchez’s mentality after the Manchester United flop admitted he wanted to leave after one training session.

In an interview with talkSPORT, he said: “I can’t believe you want to leave a club after ONE training session. How does that work?!

  • PARTEY POOPERS

Gunners chiefs tried to use Alexandre Lacazette AND Matteo Guendouzi as makeweights to land Thomas Partey, according to reports.

Fabrizio Romano believes the French duo were both offered to Atletico Madrid in exchange for the Ghanaian midfielder.

But it was a 'non' from the LaLiga giants – because they didn't fancy Lacazette.

Partey is Mikel Arteta's No1 priority this summer but has a release clause of £45m in his Atleti contract.

  • DUTCH COURAGE

Former Arsenal man Paul Merson slammed Manchester United's signing of Donny van de Beek as a “panic buy”.

The Red Devils wrapped up a £39million deal with Ajax this week to land the Dutch midfielder.

He became the first major incoming of the transfer window – but ex-Gunner Merse is not impressed.

He told the Daily Star: “Donny van de Beek looks like a panic buy at Manchester United. I don't get it.

“They just spent £40m on a position where they are already strong and how does he play with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes?

“You have to have someone who can play the holding role.

“That signing looked to me like, 'Oh we haven’t bought anyone yet, let’s go and buy someone, who can we get?'”

  • FIFA FOES

The new Premier League season has been simulated on FIFA 21 – but it's not good news for Manchester United and Arsenal fans.

Both clubs miss out on the top four and Champions League places – United finish in fifth with the Gunners in sixth.

Liverpool win the title again on 90 points, but this time only three ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

Tottenham bag third spot on the simulated season, four points behind City on 83.

Chelsea fans might have been expecting a team including Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell to have finished higher than fourth, however.

  • GOOD MORNING, ARSENAL FANS

Arsenal have suffered a potential blow in signing a key target – and we’re not talking about Lionel Messi.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the race to snap up Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Arsenal are yet to firm up their interest in the shape of a formal bid, and could fall back in their quest to sign the Ghanaian.

According to ESPN, Champions League finalists PSG have now entered the running to sign Partey.

And if the Gunners don't act soon, they could miss out on the £45million star.

But they have secured Dani Ceballos for another season, a loan deal which was announced late last night.

But Mikel Arteta has let go of Ben Sheaf. The youngster has completed a season-long loan move to Coventry City.

SunSport revealed the 22-year-old was set to join the Championship side – with an option to buy at the end of the deal for £750,000.

Meanwhile, a touch of Invincibles magic could soon be about to return to the club.

Sol Campbell has revealed he would “love to” replace Freddie Ljungberg as Arteta's No2 at Arsenal.

Campbell made the shock revelation while testing out Marvel's new Avengers game with his fellow Invincibles.

As soon as Campbell logged on, Robert Pires said: “I have a question for you Sol because Freddie is leaving.

“Are you interested in the job working with staff and Arteta or not?”

Without hesitation, Campbell replied: “Yes, I would. If something came up, I would. I would love to.

“Put my name forward and I will be there.”

  • 'THRILLED'

Technical director Edu is a very happy man after Dani Ceballos was secured for another year.

The Real Madrid loanee is back in North London with the Gunners transfer chief revealing his delight to the club website.

Edu said: “We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season.

“We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success.

“We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”

  • WE GOT SOL

Sol Campbell has praised Mikel Arteta for adding a “breath of fresh air” into the team.

The Gunners have won the FA Cup and Community Shield in recent weeks, raising the ex-defender’s hopes.

He told talkSPORT: “Arsenal were looking for a breath of fresh air and they’ve got it in Mikel. That’s key really. Players are responding and players are willing to run for each other.

“Young players are coming in and getting a chance and all the players are inspired by the young players. Everyone is feeding off each other in a positive way. That’s key for me.

“Edu is there as well and there’s a nice relationship there. It seems to be working really well.

“They have to go from strength to strength now and keep the positivity.”

  • ART OF THE DEAL
