ARSENAL are trying to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, according to ESPN.

The Frenchman is contracted to the German side until 2021 and any transfer could hinge on whether he opts for a new deal or agitates for a move.

The Gunners will also be desperate to secure Champions League football by beating Chelsea tonight as Leipzig have already qualified for the competition.

ARSENAL are ready to pounce and steal ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

While the Champions League finalists have long been the frontrunners in pursuit of the former Everton loanee, they could be pipped to the post by their local rivals.

Without Aaron Ramsey for the coming campaign, Arsenal are on the hunt for a midfielder.

Catalan radio station RAC1 report on the Gunners stepping up their interest in Gomes with the required fee set at £26million.

After a solid year at Everton in which he made 29 appearances, many would consider Gomes a bargain.

Unless Ernesto Valverde is sacked and replaced by a coach who thinks differently, it is hard to see the player staying at the Camp Nou after his relationship with the fans broke down in his final season at the club.

But Arsenal and Spurs aren't the only options for Gomes, who was reportedly subject of an £18m bid from West Ham recently.

ARSENAL and Manchester United are going head to head to sign full-back Thomas Meunier from Paris St-Germain, France Football reports.

The Gunners are desperate for fresh blood in their defensive line with manager Unai Emery wanting to replace 35-year-old Stephan Lichtsteiner after the defender's dreadful season

The 27-year-old Belgian is being pushed out of the French club with the Ligue 1 champions seeking around £25million.

Thomas Tuchel is said to prefer alternative options Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba.

Meunier signed with PSG back in 2016 but hasn't seen much game time since his knee injury back in March.

The player has one year left on his contract and is reportedly already in talks with Gunners' rivals Manchester United.

New boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seeking to add excitement in his defensive line with Ashley Young not impressing at right-back.
