Football's bid to resume the season could face legal challenges on health grounds from players and clubs.

As it stands, it is even unclear when it will be LEGAL for players to train, let alone play matches.

Sports lawyer Nick De Marco QC believes individual players or whole clubs could refuse to return, in disputes that may end up in court.

De Marco, who has represented high-profile clients such as Harry Kane, Tyson Fury and a number of Premier League clubs, said: “I think it’s quite likely to happen.

“We’ve seen a great divergence of opinion when and if you should have a lockdown, and its extent.

“There are decisions being made for political and commercial reasons, and there are different medical opinions. So the likelihood of some people thinking it’s safe to return back to work earlier than others must be quite high.”

Chelsea are ready to sell Emerson Palmieri and  Victor Moses as they step up their left-back hunt.

Italy star Emerson, 25, will be allowed to go this summer for £20million.

Juventus want to take the ex-Roma man back to Serie A and Chelsea’s asking price is not a problem.

And Inter Milan are keen to turn 29-year-old Moses’ loan into a permanent deal for an agreed £9.25m fee.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has blasted citizens that are ignoring government advice by continuing to go outdoors and socialise.

He told Kicker: ” That is ignorant and irresponsible! If the recommendations to stay at home are not heard, there is no alternative to a curfew.

“There are apparently very many – too many – people who do not understand that they may not be personally more at risk, but very well may be to people around them.

“And then handle it lightly. It’s just selfish.”

The PFA want urgent talks with the Premier League and Football League — as stars expect to be asked to defer wages.

Some top-flight clubs have been in talks with the PFA over whether it would be acceptable to delay a portion of wages until the crisis ends.

This would improve the cash flow of some teams with all players set to get their money.

The PFA have warned clubs they would fight tooth and nail over any pay cut and they have now called for formal talks between themselves, the Premier League and EFL.

In a statement, the PFA — run by union chief Gordon Taylor — said: “As with other industries, the current Covid-19 crisis is having a severe impact on the game’s finances.

“Several clubs have already approached players with a view to imposing pay deferrals.

“In order to deal with this situation, we have called for an urgent meeting with the Premier League and the English Football League to discuss how we might proceed.”

Former Premier League defender Alex Bruce believes that Chelsea winger Willian is exactly the sort of player that Jose Mourinho will be targeting at Tottenham.

He told Football Insider: ” We all know what kind of league the Premier League is in terms of the demands it has and when you’re a team like Tottenham, one thing you really need is to be there or there about at the top end of the table.

“At the minute, they’ve been too up and down in terms of performance levels. It doesn’t surprise me that the likes of Willian, who’s a consistent performer, they’re the type of players Mourinho will want around the squad.

“At the minute, the players have been too up and down and you can’t get away with it.”
