A woman has left viewers in stitches with a dramatic reading of a man's apology text where he admits to "technically" cheating and begs for "sympathy".
In the clip by singer-songwriter Jax @jaxwritessongs AKA Jackie Miskanic, she reads out the frantic-sounding message from the bloke in question, who is apparently a college student, while her pal Lindsey Stirling plays the violin.
She says: "I know you're probably never going to forgive me for what happened but I wanted a chance to explain.
"I know it wasn't right that I 'technically' hooked up with your roommate but I've been going through a lot and that's not who I am.
"I've been failing most of my classes and you know I just got fired.
"So I would really appreciate it if you showed me some sort of sympathy and stopped making me feel like a villain
"Plus you've been really busy at work and I've been feeling really alone.
"I was just missing you and it was a one-time mistake. I love you SO much more than Emily.
"What am I supposed to tell my family? I'm sorry ok?! Also, did you change the Netflix password?"
In the comments, Jax asks her fans: "Guys comment your exes' BS texts so we can add sad violins to it!"
The video was watched more than 4.7 million times on TikTok and received thousands of comments, with many viewers incredulous about how he signed off his emotional message.
One joked: "I'm not a bad guy! I just do bad guy things! Now about that Netflix password."
"That whole apology was to get the Netflix password," said a second user.
Someone else commented: "DID YOU CHANGE THE NETFLIX PASSWORD? I'M DEAD."
Another viewer questioned: "How does one differ from 'technically' and 'actually' hooking up with someone?"
Jax finished third on the fourteenth season of American Idol and was signed with Atlantic Records.
