Usher was in attendance for L.A. Reid’s 66th birthday party and he didn’t come empty handed. The “Love in this Club” hitmaker surprised his long-time friend with a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
L.A. held a “Bel Air Backyard BBQ” last Saturday to celebrate his birthday. The music producer even used Jay-Z’s Dusse and Cyber Yachts for the soiree. It was a big party, with over 100 guests, including famous faces like T.I. and Jeezy.

Source told TMZ that L.A. was “floored” by Usher’s generous gift. That’s not surprising, given the Porsche was no inexpensive present. The model starts at $135,000 before customizations.
“The shape of the 911 Carrera is unmistakable because of its iconic flyline and elegant roof lines,” Porsche explains. “These have characterized Porsche since 1963, as have sports cars with astonishing performance.”
But the Porsche isn’t just a luxurious gift for L.A., it’s also very sentimental. The singer gifted Usher the same model in 1997 after Usher released his hit “You make Me Wanna” through L.A.’s LaFace Records.
L.A. is known for gifting luxury cars to those close to him. In addition to the Porsche he gifted Usher over two decades ago, he’s also purchased rides for Dallas Austin, Toni Braxton before.
“When I was in Atlanta and the cost of living was lower and I made more money, I would do this: if the producers made me a platinum album, I would buy them an expensive watch,” L.A. said of his reputation for extravagant gifts.
“I bought Dallas Austin a Range Rover, I bought both Usher and Toni Braxton Porsches,” he continued. “I put a movie theatre in [TLC’s] Chili‘s house. It was the 90s and the record industry was insane. There was so much money.”
More recently, L.A. promised to buy X Factor finalist Marcus Canty, an R&B singer, a $200,000 Bentley if he won the competition. He ultimately finished in fourth place on the reality competition.
Usher is also known for his love of expensive cars. He has a variety of pricey cars at his disposal, including a Ferrari 458 spider, a Mercedes Benz A45 AMG, Matte Black CLS, Mercedes Benz AMG, and a Cadillac Escalade, Brawler GTC.
