A woman who found herself one penny short when doing her food shop claims she was shocked that nobody stepped in to help.
Vee Hoffman, from Hawaii, said that after being charged for bags she was 1p short and unable to pay.
As no helpful strangers pitched in with a spare copper, she was told she couldn’t take her shopping without paying the full price.
Vee told KITV : "We're in a time where a penny goes a long way.
"Not a lot of us have cash these days and it really showed that day".

The young woman said that she was charged 47 cents for three bags, but only had 37 cents and nine pennies.
She was one penny short.
See asked nearby shoppers if anyone had a spare penny, but no one was willing to help.
The store manager happened to pass by and wrote off the spare penny.
See added: "We're in times where it brings out certain sides of us, but it's up to us to choose what we want to do with our opportunities and choices.
"We really try to hang on to that aloha spirit, but it's really hard when you're in the dark."
The young woman lost her job as a bartender in March due to the coronavirus pandemic and admits she’s struggled to pay her bills.
Since then, she has applied for lots of job but was forced to claim unemployment insurance.
Vee explained: "I juggle each month, which bill I'm going to pay, which one can I afford to pay, and it's just a never ending nightmare.
"It's really frustrating to be living in one of the most expensive places in the world, and having to go through this when we shouldn't have to.”
