WD-40 is essential in every household. Known for being useful in a variety of scenarios, it’s the perfect fix for almost any household task – from cleaning to unsticking tough dirt and grime, there are plenty of ways to utilise it.

Remove stains from the counter – cup rings, whether they be coffee, juice or tea, are difficult to remove, especially if they’ve been left for a long time.

WD-40 can help clear them – just rub onto the spots, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe away with soap and water.

Unstick a zip – stubbornly yanking a stuck zip is the quickest way to break it.

Instead, rub a small amount of WD-40 on the stuck zip using a tissue, and the zip should come unstuck with a few gentle tugs.

Remove stickers – removing stickers becomes much less satisfactory when residue is left behind.

Even if you scrub it with soap and water, it doesn’t properly going away.

However, it can be removed with a liberal amount of WD-40 – just spray on the residue and leave for five minutes, then wipe away with water.

Maintain your lawnmower – mowing the lawn can of course lead to a build up of grass in the blades, which can decrease the functionality and reduce the life of your lawnmower.

The solution is simple – wipe down the blades with a cloth coated in WD-40 and rub along the blades.

This will also help to remove any grime and dust.

Do this every three months to keep your lawnmower in check.

WD-40 for stains – if you find yourself spilling something on your carpet, the solution is in the garage.

Use WD-40 on your carpet if you have a recent stain, and leave it to soak for five minutes.

Wash off with a damp cloth and the stain will be completely gone.

Remove chewing gum – chewing gum is a nightmare no matter where it gets – clothes, carpet, shoes – it just doesn’t seem to come unstuck.

However, WD-40 can help fix the problem.

Spray WD-40 liberally onto the gum and leave for a few minutes – it then becomes much easier to unstick the gum using a knife.

If it’s on your clothes or shoes, stick them in the washing machine on a normal wash and the memory of stuck gum will wash away.

Clean a BBQ grill – BBQ grills easily become infested with grime and dirt, but this is easy to fix.

Spray WD-40 on the frame and scrub with a wire brush.

The WD-40 will break down the grime easily – and it will also target any rust build-up too.
