Queen Elizabeth has dreams and aspirations just like the rest of us. Hers are just a little bit different than what most commoners want in life.
It’s true that Queen Elizabeth has achieved more than most royal leaders over the course of her reign. Sitting on the throne for a record-breaking 66 years has left ample time for Her Majesty to make real changes to the monarchy, including increasing the popularity of the office and inspiring positive feelings from her loyal subjects.
But even though the queen has done so much, she had onesimple wish for a very long time that she finally got to fulfill. Read onto find out what it was.
Queen Elizabeth’s personal advisor revealed intimate detailsof her life
Though she has a very modern outlook, Queen Elizabeth hailsfrom a different era and values her privacy. However, she gave special permissionto one of her most trusted employees to write a tell-all book, which helped thepublic view the monarch in a whole new light.
Angela Kelly, the queen’s personal dresser, shared plentyof surprising tidbits in her authorized biography The Other Side of the Coin: the Queen, theDresser and the Wardrobe. But one detail stood out among the rest.
Her Majesty wanted to pose forphotos like everyone else
The queen is one of the most photographedwomen in the world, but most of her poses are especially formal. That’s why hersimple wish is so endearing.
According to Kelly, Queen Elizabeth has always wanted to have her portrait taken in an informal pose compared to usual. To be more specific, Her Majesty wanted a photograph with her hands in her pockets. Her advisors had been against the idea for years before it finally happened.
The queen took matters into her ownhands
The incident in question happened during a photoshoot with photographer Barry Jeffery. During the shoot, the Jeffrey began giving direction, but Queen Elizabeth stopped him and took charge. “No, Barry, this is how we are going to do it. Just keep the camera rolling,” the queen said, according to Kelly.
What happened next was a little bit magical. All of Queen Elizabeth’s poses were quite natural and she showed true modeling talent. Plus, she fulfilled that dream of capturing a photo with her hands in her pockets.
Not everyone approved of thephotos
Kelly reported that the RoyalCollection only accepted two of these casual photos because they feared theimpact of portraying the reigning monarch in such an informal way. However, itseems like those rules are relaxing, at least a bit.
For example, future queen KateMiddleton has been photographed in jeans and shorts for informal occasions. Theidea of seeing her with her hands in her pockets isn’t the least bit shocking.
There is a time and place forformal dress, especially for royals. But still, fans would benefit from seeing QueenElizabeth looking a little more relaxed with one hand (or two) in her pockets.
We can only hope those photographsget published in the near future!
