Despite many of us suffering through grown-out roots and stale colour, there are a lucky few who have been able to get a quick hair refresh – even with salons being shut to the general public.
Olivia Bowen has just discussed the matter over on her Instagram, where she explains to followers why her hair is looking different in images, in anticipation for questions on whether she’s been to a salon.

“Just wanted to put this out there before I get queries,” she writes. “My hair has been coloured for a hair-based photoshoot on Friday, otherwise I’d still be rocking my roots.”
Olivia, 27, accompanies the explanation with a snap of herself, showing off her fresh blonde colour in all its glory.
The former Love Island star isn’t wrong in her explanation of why she was allowed to have her hair done. Hair and make-up is still legally permitted to take place for or on photoshoots, although social distancing and extra health and safety measures have to be put in place.
Despite Olivia explaining the reason, a few fans are still eager to know whether or not she’d attempted a home DIY dye, or seen a professional.
“How is this allowed having your hair coloured when salons are shut?” one follower asks in the comment box under the star’s most recent selfie.
The question sparked a big debate between Olivia’s fans, with many quick to defend the star.
“It’s her job? They can be done following distancing guidelines,” another replied.
Despite a few bickering over the legality of professional hair dyeing during lockdown, the majority of fans wanted to ask Olivia questions about her battle with psoriasis, after she got candid about the skin condition last month.

In a Q&A on her Instagram stories this week, Olivia answered fan questions about how she manages psoriasis, and how she feels about sharing it with the world.
“I’m sharing it now because the last time I had it I was 17, and I don’t think I had social media at that point,” she says, referring to why she’s only recently addressed the condition with fans.
“I’m covered completely head-to-toe now, and it’s been there about a month. I’ve had a couple of bad breakdowns, just crying my eyes out about it, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Just remember it’s just skin.”
