Many of us will be tucking into leftovers today.
And if you’ve got any Christmas cake knocking about, you might want to hear about this top tip.
On Twitter, Nigella Lawson revealed you can combine the festive pud with a slice of cheese.
Yes, you read that right.
The TV chef, 60, was inspired by a long-held Yorkshire tradition that can be traced back to the Victorian period.
According to the Mirror, food historian Peter Brears says the combination works so well because it incorporates sweet and savoury flavours.
The expert told Yorkshire Post : “It is definitely a Yorkshire thing which goes back at least until the 19th century, and I know that because my grandparents were born in the 1890s and it was very much part of their Christmas celebrations.
"People here recognised that when you have something which is rich and sweet it’s good to have something savoury with it.”
So will you be trying the quirky combination today?
If so, the historian recommends reaching for a fruity Wensleydale or something similar.
Alternatively, you can reach for a milder slice of cheddar.
Brears added: “It’s one of those things which is perfectly normal in Yorkshire, yet when you go anywhere else you get a horrified look and I think it would be good to spread its appeal.
“Like we say here, Christmas cake without the cheese is like a kiss without the squeeze.”
