My girlfriend blames the fact we haven't had sex for over a year on our money worries

DEAR DEIDRE:  MY girlfriend blames her loss of interest in sex on our money worries.

I share the same problems but I’ve still got a high sex drive.

We’ve been together for 12 years and do not have kids. I’m 38 and she’s 36.

We haven’t had sex for well over a year.

I am trying to be patient but if I so much as hint about it when we’re away on holiday or after a romantic dinner out, she gets annoyed and says I am always going on about it.

We are very much in love but have very few hugs these days.

We used to have a good sex life before this steady decline over the last three years or so.

DEIDRE SAYS: It could be the sex wasn’t as good for her as it was for you, or it could be nothing directly to do with sex.

You have been together many years. Are you sure you’re both happy that you’re not married and have no children?

That suits some couples but you need to have talked this through with your girlfriend.

My e-leaflet Reviving A Woman’s Sex Drive explains likely causes and self-help sex therapy.
