Her Majesty the Queen is famous for her stiff upper lip and perfect poise in public, but she’s a softie at heart.

Over her incredible 69 year reign, the Queen has offered a few sneak peeks into her sweet side from accepting kisses to cuddling her grandchildren.

The Queen delighted in Zoom calling Archie for his birthday back in May, and the nation melted at the news that as a youngster, Prince George called his great-grandmother ‘Gan Gan’.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, Her Majesty also shares her love through gifts.

When Prince William and Kate Middleton stay at Balmoral, their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are treated to sweet presents.

Writing in Vanity Fair, Katie shared: “When the Cambridges stay at the Queen’s Scottish castle, the monarch has been known to leave small personally chosen gifts on her grandchildren’s beds.”

It sounds like George, eight, Charlotte, six, and three-year-old Louis are spoiled rotten by their great-grandmother.

The August Bank Holiday weekend has reportedly become a time specially reserved for the Queen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Last week, the Cambridges made the journey to Her Majesty’s Scottish retreat, widely thought to be the monarch’s favourite residence.

It’s believed the family take long walks, go fishing and enjoy horse riding and cycling on the sprawling land.

It’s a treasured place for Prince William, too. Back in May he spoke fondly about his childhood visits to Balmoral.

He shared: “My childhood was full of holidays having fun in the fresh air and swimming in lochs, family barbecues with my grandfather in command, and yes – the odd midge.”

Katie revealed that the Queen will have greatly looked forward to their visit, citing a family friend.

While we don’t know what Her Majesty chooses to gift her loved ones, the royals have plenty of interests for inspiration.

It’s thought Princess Charlotte has a passion for gymnastics and ballet and began horse riding at just 17 months old.

George loves music and is learning to play the guitar. He enjoys horse riding like his sister, and shares a love of tennis with his mum.

Kate’s previously revealed that George hit a ball with his favourite player, Roger Federer, and they’ve installed a tennis court at the Norfolk home for the children to practice playing!

Prince Louis is a creative sort, snapped covered in paint to mark his second birthday last year. And he’s ridden to school on his new balance bike.
