It’s been a tense time for Emmerdale character Wendy Posner recently, as the return of Kim Tate saw her handed an eviction notice.

Wendy and Luke Posner arrived in the Yorkshire village last year and moved into a cottage owned by the Tates, but with Kim’s return things are no longer plain-sailing, and Luke wants answers.

"What's he [Jamie] playing at?" Luke asks, as Wendy wails: “I always pay [the rent] on time, I keep the house clean and tidy, I'm always careful with stuff like that!"

So as a showdown looms, we’ve taken a peek into the behind-the-scenes life of Wendy Posner actress Susan Cookson. Here’s everything we know…

Who is Susan Cookson?

Susan Cookson was born in Manchester and the actress is 55 years old.

Despite being a recognised part on hit soap Emmerdale, playing Wendy, the show isn’t Susan’s first television appearance.

In fact you may well recognise the actress from her days playing fan favourite Maggie Coldwell on BBC drama Casualty.

Susan starred in the hospital drama from 2005 to 2008 and then made later appearances in 2009 and 2015.

And Susan, who has also starred in Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, has also been in the Dales prior to her 2019 reemergence, and last popped up on Emmerdale in 2003.

At the time, Susan played the role of DI Judy Dove a few times.

In Susan’s role in Hollyoaks she played Janet, who was embroiled in Amy Barnes’ murder trial as the Prosecuting Counsel.

And Coronation Street fans may remember Susan playing Callum Logan’s mother Marion, the grandmother of Max.

The star, who has been starring on Emmerdale since 2019, has also been in Waterloo Road, Holby City and Cold Feet.

Is Susan Cookson married?

Susan was married to Malcolm Scates, who she wed in 1993, however he sadly passed away on 6 September, 2016.

Malcolm was an actor, who starred in the likes of The Inbetweeners, Waterloo Road and The Wolfman.

The couple share two children, named Ruari and Dan.
