The Biebers are taking business casual to the next level.
On Monday, Justin and Hailey met with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, wearing head-scratching outfits that many fans felt were out of place for a formal rendezvous.
While the “Peaches” hitmaker, 27, sported a Celine pinstripe suit and matching button-up shirt, he accessorized with a silver necklace and blue-and-white Jordan 1 Low sneakers that lent his look a streetwear vibe.
Baldwin, 24, stunned in a nude-colored LaQuan Smith dress and strappy Femme stilettos — but fans were confused about her look’s ab-baring cutout, calling it “inappropriate,” “disrespectful,” “classless” and “tasteless.”
“Wifey’s pretty and all but should have dressed for the occasion,” one person commented on Bieber’s Instagram.
“Can someone tell the Biebers this is a government event?,” another asked.
“This is dope but I’m having trouble with the attire,” a third wrote, while another commented that Baldwin’s look seemed more suited to “the MTV Music Video Awards, not the White House.”
Though it’s unclear exactly why the singer and supermodel met with the Macrons, Monday was France’s annual Fête de la Musique, or Music Day, which included concerts and crowds at the Presidential Palace.
Bieber recently also came under fire for his dreadlocks, with many accusing him of cultural appropriation. After a month of backlash, he shaved his head and has since stuck with a buzz cut.
