Body mod fan turns himself into ‘Zombie’ with inked eye and split tongue

A man forked out £11,000 on body modifications in a bid to look like a zombie.

Anderson Garcia Rodrigues, from London, has become a local celebrity in Camden Town.

The 31-year-old model and actor got his first tattoo aged just 17.

And since then, he’s become a walking work of art after inking 13 more areas of his body.

As well as having an impressive collection of tatts that span 75% of his skin, he's tattooed his eyeballs.

Anderson’s other jaw-dropping modifications include a split tongue and cheek piercings.

Anderson said: I've always identified myself as someone who loves being alternative; whether that is liking alternative music or having an alternative appearance.

"When I was a teenager, I had a group of friends who introduced me to the world of tattooing and piercings.

"I never wanted to be conventional and so by the age of seventeen I lied to the tattoo artist about my age and had my first tattoo done – it was of Kurt Cobain.

"In the beginning, my parents didn't like it and tried to stop me, but over time they got used to it and today they support me.

"My favourite body modifications are my eyeball tattoo and my face skeleton face tattoo which I love. The most painful was the tongue splitting by far.

Anderson enjoys standing out from the crowd as he walks around the capital.

He can’t walk down the street without people asking to take pictures with him.

So in a bid to reduce the amount of bombardment he gets, he walks around the streets with a sign that reads “help punk to get drunk”.

Anyone that wants a photo then has to donate £1 to the tattooed Londoner.

He added: "I also get a lot of strangers saying that they love my look and my personality and that I inspire them."

While many love Anderson’s look, others have branded him “ugly” and “crazy”.

The “zombie” punk doesn’t let this hold him back as he knows his extreme appearance will always divide opinion.

He said: "When I'm out walking, I get called all sorts of things but I'm never bothered because I knew that it was always going to be the case with the way I look.

"People call me 'ugly' and 'crazy' and ask if there's something wrong with me because I have chosen to look the way I do.

"One person even said I 'didn't have god in my heart,' which was weird.”

Anderson will continue to express himself through body art.

He has plans to cover the remaining 25% percent of his body with new tattoos in the future.

The punk added: "I believe that I have become a better person today because I am part of a world that most people never have an opportunity to know and probably wouldn't want to know.

"I am a punk activist in love with freedom of expression."
