Shops have been re-opening across England this week as part of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

Which means more of us are on the high streets looking for the best deals.

But, bargain shop Poundland has been open throughout the pandemic as it’s deemed essential.

However, that doesn’t mean that you should leave it off your shopping spree line up, because there are a tonne of ways to bag the best discounts that you never knew about.

Bargain-hunting pros have been sharing their top tips and tricks for spending less, but bringing home more.

What's your top tip for bagging bargains? Tell us in the comments…

Mum-of-two Naomi Willis, 37, who runs the money-saving blog Skint Dad with her husband Ricky, reckons the best time to visit is early in the morning.

She told the Sun that you should visit Poundland early in the morning to spot extra discounts as this is when you’ll find food closer to the expiry date.

Naomi noted: “The last time I got discounted food, there was a ready meal and a couple of sandwiches.”

And, Holly Smith, 35, who runs a coupon blog, said to shop after holidays like Christmas and Mother’s Day.

Poundland tries to sell off their seasonal stock at these times to make room for the next items so they're often generously discounted.

But, the Mirror has also leaned that bargains are to be found close to closing time too.

Around an hour before the doors shut is the best time.

Extra reductions mean that you can grab £1 items for as little as 50p or sometimes even 20p.

But, you should definitely keep an eye out as sometimes items are priced below £1 anyway – so don’t be fooled!

You can also find lots of deals hidden next to the checkout in baskets, but these can vary from store to store.

So make sure you keep your eyes open for piles of marked down items.

And, if you want to ensure you can go to Poundland when it's quiet then try using Google’s popular times graph.

It will show you all the times during the week which are busy and which have lower foot fall.

Basically you just need to Google your local shop in the maps section of the search engine.

Scroll past the opening hours section and the "popular times" graph will appear.

It shows a blue bar graph representing the shop’s typical footfall.

The higher the blue bar, the more customers are usually shopping at that time.

There will also be a pink bar to represent how many customers Google believes to be in the store right now.

That way you can aim for times when it’s easier to social distance and stay safe.
