When Kimberley Walsh announced the news of her baby's gender to OK! VIP Club members, she also took the opportunity to throw support behind Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, who is currently battling with cancer.

The 39-year-old mum-of-two, who looks absolutely stunning in our gender reveal shoot, said she's "really proud" of Sarah, who released her autobiography, Hear Me Out, just weeks ago.

Kimberley said: "I don’t need to explain anything now and it’s nice she’s got her book out and it can all be from her own mouth.

"It’s been a really tough year and she’s honestly the most amazing woman.

"I’m so happy with the reaction to the book and how much the fans came on board and downloaded her songs to give her a boost.

"It does have that impact and we’ve always had the best fans in the world, and they’ve always come out when they’re needed – and they did this time. I know everybody wants to send her that love and I’m constantly trying to pass that back to her."

Kimberley's comments come after Sarah revealed the true extent of her illness and said that she was told Christmas 2020 is "probably her last."

In her candid book she also made the heartbreaking statement about the comfort she feels knowing she will probably pass away before her mum, Marie.

"Mum is in her late seventies now and she has become everything to me through this illness, especially since I've been staying with her," Sarah, 39, explained.

"I know how hard this is on her too. I often worry about her, especially as she's gotten older. I can't bear the thought of anything happening to her.

"In a strange way it's comforting to know that I will probably leave this world before she does; at least then I won't have to go through the pain of losing her."

As Kimberley said, fans of the band have really rallied around Sarah at this difficult time and the Girls Aloud song Hear Me Out hit number one on the iTunes chart last week, after their loyal fanbase downloaded it in their droves.

"It's been lovely to hear that you guys have been enjoying Hear Me Out, both the book & the song!" Sarah tweeted.

"I can't believe you nutters got the song not only into the charts, but to NUMBER 1! I love you all so much, you're the best people in the world."

Sarah also released a brand new track called Wear It Like A Crown. All profits from the single are going to The Christie NHS Foundation.

Meanwhile, Kimberley also told OK! that she can't wait for a meet-up with her friend, when it's safe to do so.

She revealed Sarah also is keen to visit her boys Bobby, six, and Cole, four, and of course the new baby!

"Covid has meant it’s been really tough for us to make plans, particularly when she has needed to shield," Kimberley said.

"But she’s desperate to come and see the boys, and as soon as she’s ready, that’ll be the first thing we will get in the diary."
