Kate Garraway has revealed her husband Derek Draper still sleeps around 20 hours per day, following his battle with coronavirus.
The Good Morning Britain star shared an update on her husband, revealing he is only usually awake for 28 hours a week.
Kate, 54, and her family have gone through turmoil since her husband Derek, 54, was hospitalised with coronavirus in March last year.
Despite beating the virus, Derek still suffers from a number of health issues caused by Covid-19, including issues with his liver, kidneys and pancreas.
Derek remained in hospital fighting the affects of the virus until earlier this year. He is now receiving around-the-clock care at home.
Speaking with the Telegraph, Kate shared an update on her husband's condition.
She said: "Everyone wants to know how Derek is doing, and I want to say: 'He’s doing great!' Because I so want to give them a happy ending…"
Kate, who recently revealed she won't turn documentary Finding Derek into a series, added: "It’s not been easy.
"And although there are these extraordinary little moments that keep you going, it’s not as though there is something every day taking us forward.
"The doctors believe that there will be a trajectory, but that it’ll be very slow. Derek will still sleep for 20 hours a day, for example."
But, there has been some positive moments during the battle as Kate explained her husband can understand what is going on around him.
Kate, who recently revealed the unique way she and Derek spent their anniversary, said: "We’re clear now that he does understand everything that I tell him.
"So there are moments when you know he’s in there, and he has a lot of memory."
During the candid interview, Kate revealed she loves her husband "more" following his health battle.
She told the publication: "Because I feel like I understand so much more about Derek, like I…"
She was asked: "Love him more?" Kate answered: “Oh God. I didn’t think it was possible, but I really do.”

The morning show host went on to reveal it was the little things she misses most and things that used to “drive her mad”.
She explained: “The way he wouldn’t be able to do anything until he’d had his bath. The way he would sing so loudly in the mornings – and was generally just so loud!”
Kate went on: “It would drive me mad. And now I would give everything I own to hear him being really loud and shouty and full of opinions, ruffling feathers in the way that he used to.”
