How much does Julia Garner get paid for Ozark?

In the era of international streaming platforms dominating the market, the salaries of television stars can widely vary.

Factors affecting a star’s paycheque will include their role and prominence in a TV series and their star profile at the time they are cast.

A more recent development is whether the show is on a traditional broadcaster, a cable subscription channel or a streaming platform.

Generally, streaming platforms have deeper pockets and their lead stars can command six-figure salaries for their roles in TV shows.

Therefore, Garner is likely to be making a substantial amount for her role in Ozark and more so since her Emmy wins.

According to a 2018 report from Variety, Stranger Things actor Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour were both paid an estimated £260,000 ($350,000) per episode.

While Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington were getting an estimated £819, 000 ($1.1 million) for each episode of the Amazon Prime Video series Little Fires Everywhere.

At the other end of the spectrum is the likes of the main cast of Riverdale such as Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart who take home an estimated £29,700 ($40,000) per episode.

The biggest winners when it comes to salary on broadcast shows are those on sitcoms with the casts of The Big Bang Theory and Friends pockets big figures to rival streaming platforms.

Cable channels also pay more, so those working for the likes of HBO and Showtime are making more than those on traditional broadcast TV.

Ozark’s two biggest names are Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, who were Hollywood stars and launched the show when it first premiered on the streaming service.

However, Garner has subsequently made a name for herself thanks to her performance in the show which is likely to have seen her salary upped over time.

Going into the final series, Garner is likely to have received a pay increase as there will be more episodes in season four.

An article from Variety in 2017 suggested Bateman and Linney made an estimated £239,000 ($300,000) per episode on Ozark.

Given there are 10 episodes in the first three seasons of Ozark, they would have been making a couple of million per series of the show.

Since the drama’s explosion in popularity this year, their pay packets will be increasing – along with Garner’s own salary.

While Garner is probably going to be making less than these Hollywood heavyweights, she will be probably getting a pay bump.

Her net worth according to Garner is Starswiki is around £788,000 ($1 million).

Following her meteoric rise to fame on Ozark, Garner has been working non-stop on other TV shows and projects with the star likely to be in line for bigger windfalls in the future.

She will next be appearing in the Netflix series Inventing Anna after roles in surreal series Maniac and the movie The Assistant.

Season four of Ozark is expected to be airing either in 2021 or 2022 as Garner reprises her role one last time.
