Hugh Jackman and Piers Morgan lead showbiz tributes as Sir Sean Connery dies

Sir Sean Connery has died aged 90. 

BBC states the iconic James Bond star’s family confirmed the news of his death. 

Following the sad update, famous faces from around the world rushed to pay tribute to the 007 legend.

Hugh Jackman said: ‘I grew up idolising #SeanConnery. A legend on screen, and off. Rest In Peace.’

Piers Morgan shared: ‘RIP Sir Sean Connery, 90. The first James Bond. The best James Bond. 

‘What sad news.’

Taking to Twitter, Sam Neill recalled working with the late star, writing: ‘Every day on set with #SeanConnery was an object lesson in how to act on screen. 

‘But all that charisma and power- that was utterly unique to Sean . RIP that great man , that great actor.’

Lorraine Kelly tweeted: ‘Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any s**ttier the sad news that Sean Connery has died. 

‘RIP – best ever Bond.’

Fellow ITV star Eamonn Holmes said: ‘No doubt he epitomised James Bond but don’t forget there were so many other roles. 

‘True Movie Star who owned the screen. Rip #SeanConnery.’

‘Shaken and, on this occasion, stirred to hear that Sir Sean Connery has passed away,’ Gary Lineker posted. ‘Had the pleasure of playing golf with him on a couple of occasions.

‘A real character and for me, the best Bond. James Bond should be immortal. RIP.’

David Baddiel commented: ‘There’s a level of stardom where the star becomes so embedded in the culture, at least for a certain generation, that it’s almost impossible to imagine they no longer exist.
