Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen’s stepdaughter, Rosie Owen, has opened up about her thoughts on recent reports of Amanda and partner Clive facing a possible split.
Speaking to the Mail Online, Rosie said that Clive will be “miserable” and that she felt “desperately sorry” for him.
Rosie said: “Dad will be absolutely miserable. He adores Amanda. He'd do anything for her.
“It [the TV series] was never Clive's scene. I think he enjoyed it a little bit, but, you know, it has all gone to Amanda's head."
Speaking of the reports the pair are battling to save their 21 year marriage, Rosie added: “It doesn't do much for her image, but she's going to go far.”
Rosie has been largely estranged from the family over the last 16 years, having shared that she finds it “heartbreaking” to see the couple on TV.
“I'm a woman whose dad is known for being a father, when he's not a father to me,” she said.
Reports of the potential split claimed that Amanda has been living away from the family home as they try to save their relationship, but Amanda's representative said to The Sun: "Amanda and Clive have not parted ways and Amanda has not moved out of the family home.”
It was reported that Clive was “desperate” to work on the relationship and keep the marriage intact.
A source speaking to The Sun said: “It’s incredibly sad. Amanda and Clive are two hugely popular figures here in the Dales, and no one saw this coming.
“Clive loves Amanda to bits and adores her, and fears the marriage may be failing even though he desperately doesn’t want it to. He fears they will divorce."
Earlier this week, Amanda and Clive published a statement regarding the reports, where they asked for privacy regarding the “rocky patch”.
The statement read: "With the TV show and the books we've always aimed to show the reality of life on the farm, and just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids.
"We're a normal family and we've never said our marriage is perfect. Unfortunately, the constant intrusion into our lives from the media has amplified a rocky patch that we're going through. We ask that the media respect our privacy as we work through this."
Ben Fogle, host of New Lives In The Wild, a show that had previously featured the couple, offered the pair his support as they work things out.
Posting to Instagram, ben said: "I always stick up for my friends. There is an assumption that if you put yourself in the public eye, then you must also suffer the consequences of accountability.
"Amanda, Clive and the Owen family are the most honest, kind, hard working folk I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They have integrity, Yorkshire grit and good honest, traditional values. But everyone has their limits.”
